Picspam: Kuwait
Dec. 30th, 2009 11:27 pmThe 13 hour commercial to Kuwait has been accomplished! It was unfortunately not a direct flight and we had to land in London - which is basically a giant tease. We had to leave the plane, go through security and walk back through the terminal only to get back on the same plane. I kept darting into the Terminal shops to see if there was any DW stuff to buy. Alas, there was nothing, Heathrow was spared the Doctor Who marketing blitz apparently. (Dear Terminal 3 shops: International travelers do too like Doctor Who!)
This will be my second New Years spent in Kuwait. I think I slept through the last one, I'll probably be asleep or ordering room service for the second one as we report for our flight at 4 in the morning. I like to go hog wild for New Years.
Look at that - it's 4 in the morning now! Jetlag is SO much fun. :)
I think I've posted a few random Kuwait pictures here and there but have never compiled a picspam, clearly I must rectify that.

The hotel we stay at is undergoing massive amounts of construction and effectively doubling in size, but before it went and expanded this was the view. This pretty much sums up most of the residential areas - it's very drab and brown.

My coworker got suckered into buying a headdress.

That's a man behind that. I was buying a Pashmina from his shop and he kept trying to get me to buy one of these things. Not sure if it was a subtle hint or not but I'm pretty pleased I got him to demonstrate it rather then me doing it.

One of the few upsides of staying in Kuwait is the food. LOVE the food. Om Nom Nom.

The Kuwait Towers are really the only tourist attraction Kuwait has. The poor dears.

I won't be adding any pictures to the Kuwait set on this trip. I left my camera behind. It always makes the TSA antsy. It's big and electronic and when combined with the extra lens, the PSP, the external harddrive and the Bose headphones... I'm the person who's always having to open their bag so TSA can route around inside. Considering the idiotic new security regs I thought I'd play it safe and leave it behind. Plus, my plans for this trip mainly consist of getting my ass kicked by work and freaking out over Doctor Who.
I'm not ready for this new ep. SO not ready.
With that being said, Happy New Year!

I hope you have the chance to party for New Years in Kuwait!
I was lucky for Christmas this year, I was able to catch dinner with everyone, but New Year's Eve is a Reserve day. Please have a drink for me! ;D
Also I'm freaking out as well!
