I'm bidding for my vacation days for next year. I intended to use one week for ComicCon and one week for DragonCon. The problem is that DragonCon and ComicCon don't fall exactly into the vacation weeks, there's about one day of con that's not covered.
So do I bid for a week to cover each con even though it's not completely covered and try and finagle a solution closer to the date, or do I take 2 consecutive weeks off and completely cover one con and bid for days off for the other one.
Flight attendant days off is a bizarre system where every month they release lines that consist of trips and days off, you pick the line that fits you best and they will assign it to you based on seniority. It basically means that I don't know what my schedule will be next month or the months after that until about a week before the month actually begins.
So this is my conundrum. And if I do bid for 2 weeks solid I'd have to do it for DragonCon as it takes place in September and the lines are usually harder to work around the closer you get to winter. (Winter is the slow period so there aren't as many lines which means you're less likely to get the days off you want)
I can't decide: split the vacation or keep it together. ARGH
