Since the Snowpocalypse is well under way and everyone (or most everyone) is either stuck at home or at work contemplating how to get home I thought this was the perfect time to break out some photo spams: starting with the Naturhistorische Museum Wien.

Charles Darwin

This is a museum so badass, Charles Darwin rides tortoises through the lobby... Because nothing says Snow Day like Darwin on a tortoise.

I just uploaded some Guam photos from... January of last year. I'm still trying to work my way through the backlog.

All the photos can be found here

In other news I arrived home today only to find out that my Grandparents are visiting. Honestly, I wish my parents had WARNED me because I would have shown up in full riot gear or at the very least worn a bucket over my head. We pulled up and there they were. My lucky day.

My grandmother wasted no time with the nitpicking and my grandfather doesn't quite get the concept of closing the door when in the restroom (Why yes, I may be just a little traumatized...)

I love them but can somebody just shoot me now?

Until further notice I am declaring my room a bunker and am taking shelter with the cat.

Billy's Antiques & Props

So there's this store on Houston street in Manhattan that I love. Billy's Antiques and Props. [livejournal.com profile] raelala was actually the one to discover it, but it's just so wonderfully creepy, and Billy himself is quite the character.

Anyhow, I thought I'd compile some of the photos I've managed to amass from this place

and show them around a bit... )

I am finally, finally, finally caught up on my 2009 photos. I uploaded the photos from Gowanus, Brooklyn today and that's basically IT on my 2009 backlog. I can focus on other things now... (like my backlogs from 2006... 2007... 2008... amongst other projects. Yay!)

Anyhow, more Gowanus photos can be found at Flickr

I really should post something besides pictures someday...

It desperately needs to rain down here. DESPERATELY. So here, have a picture of wine being rained on. Oh the good old days...

9th Ave and 13th Street. The new Highline Park in Manhattan. A very pretty place.

Spock's New Do

I was planning on doing a longer picspam but as I have to start getting ready for work soon (and some general laziness) I'm sticking with just one photo.

I am continually amused by what pictures on my Flickr Account seem to attract the most people. They usually aren't what I expect them to be.

Fog on the Hills

I was lucky enough to spend 4 whole days in Vail over my birthday. Four wonderfully cold, beautiful days full of skiing. This is probably part 1 of a 3 part picspam. Or maybe 4 part. I haven't decided yet. Anyways, enjoy the frosty mountain goodness below the cut. :)

Two picture posts in two days. And both of them SPN appropriate... since this is SPN night and all

Saint Louis Cemetery

I was lucky enough to spend my New Years Day in New Orleans. The first place I headed too upon entering the city was the graveyard. Creepy yes, but oh so cool. I went a little camera crazy there... which means that there are many many many pictures behind the cut.

Enjoy!

More cemetery photos this way... )
Low Tide

I really have nothing worthwhile to post. So I'm falling back on my old standby out of sheer boredom: Random Photos from my Flickr Account.

This being Turn Again Arm, along the Seward Highway just south of Anchorage, Alaska.

I'd much rather be there then here right now...
I ended up in Thailand a few weeks ago. It was a complete and total fluke. I was supposed to spend my layover in Germany but my company felt that my time was better spent in the lovely country of Thailand.

They got absolutely no complaints out of me.

The only issues came up when we discovered that they had reserved rooms for us at the airport hotel in Bangkok (or should I say 45 minutes outside of Bangkok and surrounded by absolutely nothing). This would not do.

I ended up being the lucky duck who got to unravel our unfortunate hotel situation. Multiple calls later from Germany and Qatar and we finally convinced them to let us stay with the pilots in a little place called Pattaya, an hour and a half east of Bangkok, in the Hard Rock Hotel.

Diego Garcia

Back in January I had the good fortune to finally make it out to a little air base with the airport code NKW. Now, I spend a good deal of time making my way out to small air bases in the middle of nowhere. It just so happens that most of these are in the middle of nowhere in the states. NKW, on the other hand, is in the middle of the Indian ocean.

It's called Diego Garcia. As you can imagine, it was a bit of a slog getting there. )
Most of my photos average around 20 views total. Not all that good, but not all that bad either. I really don't go out of my way to promote them (because I get lazy).

My most viewed photo, with 464 views, was taken off the coast of Victoria Island in Lagos, Nigeria. It was a Sunday: rain was pouring down and some of it was defeating our covered boat and finding its way in through the windows. We were on our way to a private beach further up the coast for a day of fun and food - hopefully. The boat had finally just left the dock where we had entertained ourselves by watching the tides bring in massive amounts of garbage and counting the number of flip-flops amongst the flotsam. Don't believe me on the flip-flops thing? go count for yourselves...

This was my most viewed photo.

Not Anymore )

Oh yeah, the PC I cart around with me whilst traveling DIED and I had to replace it and I am so DAMN BROKE right now. (It hurts my soul)
