GIP and Pic!Spam
Dec. 12th, 2007 06:56 pmI have retired the Polar Bear as my default icon. Instead I give you an icon based off of artwork that can be found gracing the halls of the Sabancı Mosque in Adana, Turkey. Five pictures of which can be found below (plus two extra of Adana itself)

Inside Sabancı Mosque:
To enter into the mosque requires that all shoes be taken off and hair must be covered if you're a woman. The Mosque has rental scarves for women such as me who arrived without and it was well worth it to wear that ugly thing for the chance to get a peek at the beautiful artwork and architecture inside.

Sabancı Mosque as seen from The Stone Bridge

A little ways down the river from the relatively new Sabancı Mosque is The Stone Bridge. It was built during the 6th Century during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, and is the oldest bridge still in use (so sayeth Wikipedia)

I was somewhat amused that this pony and his boy were parked at a gas station.

More photos of my, unfortunately, short stay in Adana can be found at my Flickr site
