Random Picspam
Feb. 21st, 2009 10:27 amI'm absolutely abysmal at updating or even commenting. There's a reason for that though: sheer, utter exhaustion. My job kicks my ass on a regular basis. I'll get on the internet, check in with the flist and be absolutely incapable of pulling myself together long enough to comment or even string together a sentence coherent enough to make it my lj.
Anyhow, this would be another picspam. It's a random one consisting entirely of pictures I uploaded in the past two weeks. I went on a bit of an uploading spree trying to get caught up on the thousands of photos I have floating around on my harddrive.

Mission Control at Johnson Space Center during STS-126. My dad and I took a behind the scenes tour or NASA back in November. Among the many exciting things they took us to see was Mission Control. The real, busy doing shuttle stuff Mission Control. It's fairly safe to say I geeked out.

Of course the real geek out was reserved for Apollo Mission Control. The old control room where history was made. This tour brought us into the Control Room and let us sit at the consoles and basically just explore. I got myself so worked up with excitement during the course of the tour that I developed a raging headache on the way home as I was coming down from the adrenaline rush. You may be a nerd if...

Look its a Saturn V! One of the only Saturn V's left. The first time I saw this rocket it was sitting out in a field looking worn and abandoned. Longhorn cattle were grazing underneath it and it was just rotting away. The Smithsonian stepped in and the rocket was given a complete overhaul. There's no way to actually convey the sheer SIZE of this thing until you see it in person. This rocket is a beast.
All of my Johnson Space Center photos can be found here

And then there was the dog sledding in Vail, Colorado...

Photos of Dog Sledding in Wolcott, Colorado can all be found here

A bit of a self-portrait. We'd just worked to Qatar and had ferried the plane empty back to Leipzig, Germany. We were waiting for the other crew to show up so we could ferry back to New York. There was a fair amount of exhaustion going on in this picture...
And because I have no shame... more self portraits are this way

Aqaba, Jordan. Jordan being a small, mostly land locked country, this is their only seaport.
More shots of Jordan from the air here

I had a 12 hour layover in Dublin last year, instead of sleeping like a normal person I grabbed the camera and went walking about. Fortunately the flight back was a ferry or I'd have been a mess.
All Dublin photos can be viewed here

The Imagine mosaic in Strawberry Fields. The tribute to John Lennon.
All Central Park photos this way

I love the hookah. When I actually have days off to socialize I seem to end up at a place on first avenue called Revitali partaking of this middle eastern treat (Mint is my favorite although I just tried Jasmine and that was pretty spectacular)
As always, you can laugh at me doing stupid things here

The look on Elle's face when we brought the new dog home. She's not been happy lately...
Elle wants you to look at her pictures here
And I'm stopping here. I have more to post as I ended up in Catania, Sicily right in the middle of a religious festival but this post is already huge so I'll spare you that. :)
