I leave the internet for awhile and suddenly my inbox is full of sparkly snowflake cookies. Not that I'm complaining ;)

I was stuck in the prison known as Japan and it was AWFUL. Granted, we weren't really in Japan, even though physically you could say we were in Northern Japan. No, we were at Misawa Air Base and upon arrival they took our passports and off we went to the on base hotel. Which was awful, that hotel is what made the stay feel so prison like. That, and the fact that the only places to eat were the Commissary, Popeyes and Burger King. Very depressing - when in Japan I try not to eat American fast food. Blech.

The worst thing was the lack of internet. There was internet but I don't know if I'd like to call what they had internet... it was so slow. In the 30 hours I had there it just got to the point where I didn't even bother checking it - except for making increasingly hysterical posts on twitter...

I wasn't even able to edit my brother's paper for one of his college classes which I promised I'd do. The internet was so damn slow I could barely get into my e-mail let alone download the thing.

it was the nicest thing in the world: crawling into Seattle suffering from exhaustion... finally checking my e-mail and finding all those v-gifts. You Guys!

I'm just bummed I missed this bandwagon while it was going by.

Oooooh geez, if the internet was slow like that where I was? Yes, I'd start pulling my hair out in frustration lol. No internet is fine for a bit, but after that it'd start wearing on my nerves. But you survived!

It was awful. High speed internet should be a basic human right! Now if only the hotel I'm in now had wireless instead of ethernet cords. On the bright side though - INTERNET! :)

*HUGS*

I generally don't mind Japan, I get kind of excited when I go there (I had to give up the most amazing Japan trip at the end of Dec. I am mourning that I can't do that trip) but it wasn't like we were in Japan. We were trapped with the US military. It SUCKED.

All summer I kept bitching and moaning about how I wanted it to be winter already, now that it is I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING I SAID.

We landed in Anchorage and it was -10 F. SO NOT RIGHT.

I'm glad I made it back at all. Halfway through the flight we had a medical emergency and if we weren't over the middle of nowhere we would have ended up diverting.

The passenger was able to walk off under her own power in Anchorage but still, I'm glad we made it back to the US.

*adds you back*

Oh man, that sounds hellish.

WTF is up with them taking your passports? You weren't allowed to leave the Base???

Anyway, welcome back and I'm glad you have returned - for entirely selfish reasons. :D

It was awful.

It was the military and Japanese Customs coming together to form a swirling vortex of suck. Half the fun of going to Japan is actually going to JAPAN. Urgh.

I'm glad I'm back to - for VERY selfish reasons. :)
