London Town
Apr. 13th, 2008 10:46 amI'm supposed to be going into London right now.
This is not happening.
I refuse to go alone (the chick who organized this little layover trip didn't get enough sleep so like usual everything fell through) and London is one of those cities that just makes me go Blah. If I someday manage to see it, fantastic. If not: oh well. It's not too high on my list. No offense to London or anything, I'm sure it really is amazing.
This might have something to do with the fact that the dollar is worth practically nothing here and the Pound makes my soul cry.
So instead I'm blowing 20 bucks on 24 hours of internet (still a rip off, but I'm not sitting in this hotel room unconnected to the world).
I'm also finding it amusing that my company went out of its way to avoid Heathrow's new Terminal 5 by booking us from London to JFK on Air India. Air India. Yeesh.
Blah. Blah. Blah.
ETA: Some of the coworkers are going into London. I am not as they are going to meet friends at a bar and drink. Not my thing. I figured I'd let them have fun without me sitting there like a wet blanket. I guess you could say I'm feeling somewhat guilty for not taking the opportunity, but dude. I can't afford to sit around and drink. I will reconcile my guilt damnit!

Date: 2008-04-13 04:36 pm (UTC)I liked London when I was there but then again it was my first time in a city not in the States or in India. The dollar is worthless there, but then again where is it actually worth anything these days?

Date: 2008-04-13 04:45 pm (UTC)I do want to see London. But when I first visit a city I like to put on my tourist hat and see everything through the viewfinder of a camera and completely geek out. My co-workers have other plans. *g*
Depressing fact: the Dollar is worth the same as the Cedi in Ghana, Afria and in some cases they won't even accept dollars because when you factor in the bank fees to change it over it becomes worth less then the Cedi. This made me sad.
Thanks for the pick-me up *g*
